Over one hundred years ago, Jasper Forest Park first came to be and was named after the popular fur trading post operator, Jasper Hawes. By 1913 the name was changed to Jasper to complement the park. These days, the town of Jasper offers an authentic Canadian Rocky Mountain experience that is easy-going and relaxed, feeling like a true mountain town. Jasper has managed to preserve a small-town feeling while offering the amenities expected from a world-class winter resort.

Please remember that Marmot Basin is within Jasper National Park and you will need a valid park pass if travelling by car. Passes can be purchased at the gate just before the turning to the Marmot Road.
