5 Reasons to do a Spring Ski Trip to Marmot Basin

Ask any skier or snowboarder, young or old, to share a spring skiing memory and a look of instant joy will wipe across their face as they recall a story that likely includes sunny days, warm temperatures, and incredible snow conditions. For some they’ll recall memories of gliding through the warm spring air with the sun shining down on them, for others it’ll be stories of après festivities with friends or possibly a recollection of an epic spring powder day. Regardless, there is an undeniable feel-good vibe rolling through them as they start to paint the picture for you.

5 Reasons to do a Spring Ski Trip to Marmot Basin

If you don’t have an epic spring ski trip memory of your own, we firmly believe it’s time to change that. To help get you started, we’ve outlined 5 reasons why we believe Marmot Basin is your go-to place for a memorable spring skiing experience.

Unbeatable Mountain Scenery

Every good story teller knows that the first thing you must do is establish the setting. How does standing at the top of an 8,570ft peak overlooking valleys winding between white-capped mountains sound? Or how about picking your own path through glade runs with epic views of the jagged mountains that the Canadian Rockies are famous for? No matter where you find yourself at Marmot Basin, there is always a sight to marvel at. Want the insider scoop of where to take the most scenic shots to impress your social media followers? Here’s the top 5 Instagram worthy spots at Marmot Basin.

An Epic Schedule of Events

You may not remember all the finer details, but you’ll sure remember the time you had. Especially if you partake in one of our signature spring events such as the Kokanee Freeride, Aloha Cup, or the Final Weekend Retro Party. These events set the stage for some incredible stories, so grab your Hawaiian skirt and coconut bra for a one-of-a-kind race, prepare to get your après on at a high-energy mid-mountain party, and dust off your neon leg warmers for an action-packed April.

One of the Longest Ski Seasons in the Rockies

With Marmot Basin’s long season, there’s no excuse to miss out on a ski trip in Spring. With this extended spring ski season, you’ll have the entire month of April and early May to soak up the sun, carve through great snow conditions, and develop a world-class goggle tan. All of this is made possible by the fact that Marmot Basin boasts the highest base elevation of all major Canadian ski resorts, which helps preserve our consistently strong snow base each year.

Authentic Ski Town Vibe

Jasper National Park, where the wild never left the wilderness. Located in the UNESCO World Heritage site, one of the perks of visiting Marmot Basin is being able to spend time in the nearby authentic ski town of Jasper. Not only will you be surrounded by jaw-dropping mountains, you’re almost guaranteed to spot wildlife whether it be elk, moose or maybe even a grizzly bear. Voted as the Top Rated Ski Town of 2018 by USA Today, Jasper offers a great variety of dining, shopping, and winter sightseeing all in a friendly and laid-back town.

Après on the Deck

Spring skiing wouldn’t be complete without basking in the sun on a mountain patio with a nice cold beverage. At Marmot Basin, you can après ski on one of three different sun decks located both at the main chalet and the mid-mountain chalets. Stop at mid-mountain with your friends for a mid-run drink and burger, and finish the day off with a cold beer on the Kokanee Sun Deck. With daily shuttle services to pick you up and drop you off in town, après skiing just got a whole lot easier.
