Again, a massive thank you to everyone who has reached out with well wishes, and to everyone who has purchased a pass, or is considering a pass for the 24/25 season. Your support is always deeply appreciated, and this year more than ever. We can’t wait to see everyone on the mountain this season!

Update August 28, 2024

We are thrilled to share that Marmot Basin is gearing up for the 2024/25 season! Marmot Basin is very fortunate not to have sustained any structural damage from the Jasper Wildfire Complex and we are now focusing on getting everything ready for an incredible season ahead. Our crews will soon be on the mountain completing clean-up, undertaking maintenance to lifts and snow-making infrastructure, and preparing for the winter season ahead.

Restoration of power and other utilities is also underway and, as these services are re-established, our webcams and online store will be back online.

While we are exceptionally fortunate that everything on-mountain in good shape, the road before us is winding and there is a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time. With that in mind, our team is working diligently towards a November opening. We deeply appreciate the messages of support from the Marmot Basin community and beyond. We can’t wait to welcome you back with open arms!

Stay tuned for more updates and information on job opportunities, passes, and Escape cards!

Update August 15, 2024

This week Parks Canada and the Municipality of Jasper are implementing their re-entry plan for residents of Jasper. We are very excited to be able to get back and begin the path forward. Marmot Basin was very lucky not to sustain any damage from the Jasper Wildfire Complex. Once our team is back on the mountain, work will begin to restore power and other utilities that were lost or shut off during the wildfire, following which our online store and web cams will be back online.

We are very much looking forward to a great season and to see everyone back on the slopes this winter! An immense thank you to the leadership at Jasper National Park and the Municipality of Jasper who have been outstanding throughout this process. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the front line crews continuing to battle the fire, and to so many working behind the scenes to help our community and restore services in Jasper. There are also countless organizations and individuals who have reached out to us with their support, and continue to do so, and we cannot thank you enough.

There are so many amazing people who deserve to be recognized and we look forward to reaching out to you in the near future. Because of your dedication, we will be able to return to a sense of normalcy, and enjoy some turns together soon!

Previous Updates

July 29, 2024

We now know that infrastructure at Marmot Basin has not been affected by the Jasper Complex Wildfire. All facilities, buildings and ski lifts are completely in tact.

Our first priority continues to be supporting our staff during this profoundly difficult time. We are eternally grateful for the unending and selfless efforts of so many who have, and continue to tirelessly protect our people and community.

Our intention is to operate our ski area for this coming season. This will take much work on the part of many and we can't wait to see our friends back on the slopes this winter. Updates to follow as more information becomes available.

July 26, 2024

We’d first like to offer our sincere gratitude to all those who have reached out to wish us well in the last few days. This has been a devastating week for our community and the outpouring of kindness we’ve received has been remarkable and has not gone unnoticed.

The profound thanks due to the firefighters and those on the front lines who worked to protect our beloved town cannot be understated. To those who worked behind the scenes to make sure our community, family, and friends were safe, we send our deepest appreciation. Our hearts and thoughts are with those who have been heavily impacted by this tragedy. We will stand together as Jasper recovers and rebuilds. Our thoughts are also with our staff who are dispersed throughout Alberta and BC. We are working to bring them back to their homes in Jasper as soon as it is safe and permissible to do so.

We know many are wondering about the status of Marmot Basin. At this time assessment is still ongoing as to what, if any, damage the mountain has sustained. We are working with our partners at Parks Canada to better understand the status of our mountain. Recent mapping detailed the balance of the fire to be below our leasehold. We will provide updates as information becomes available.
