Jasper in January is our little mountain town’s signature winter event. With discounted lift tickets and activities on and off the mountain, it’s an ideal time to visit Jasper National Park and Marmot Basin. When you love to ski and ride as much as we do here in Jasper, you're in luck because we have plenty of room to move and wide open terrain for you and your household to explore. Better yet, we've been voted "Most Affordable Ski Resort in North America" in 2020 by Home to Go.

Between January 16 and 31 2021, Marmot Basin is offering $20 off single day adult lift tickets online, at our mountain ticket windows or at Marmot Sales Centre in Jasper. On November 12, we opened for the 2020/21 season with some thoughtful changes to our operation. We can say that these changes have been successful and we can't thank you enough for your efforts in complying with these measures. Your individual efforts continue to help us play our part in keeping the ski season alive and bettering everyone's well-being. Ski well, be well!

If you haven't already been introduced to our perfectly situated parking system, our unique parking lot layout allows you to ski and snowboard onto the slopes from your vehicle at any time throughout the day. This means that you are able to easily access extra gear or clothing and you will have the luxury of eating your picnic lunch in the security of your own space in one of our four parking lots. While some of our indoor amenities are open for take-out food and beverage items with limited seating, we encourage you to take full advantage of eating lunch at your vehicle or perhaps you'd rather enjoy a break in our outdoor warming huts at Caribou Chalet. Don't hesitate to check out the outdoor seating at mid-mountain and indulge in Bavarian food specials, freshly made pizza and take-out food and beverage options from Charlie's Bar.

We're spreading nothing but sm"eye"les and fantastic snow conditions this Jasper in January. With 284 centimeters of snowfall to date, and more on the way, we're off to a great 2021. We can't wait to be your hub for daily winter activities over the course of the two weeks. There will be ample opportunity for you and your household to participate in activities around the mountain virtually this year! We'll even have some great food specials. Pyramid Lake Sleigh Ride (Information for the 2021 season)

It doesn’t get more idyllic than a sleigh ride on Pyramid Lake on a beautiful winter day. Join Jasper Riding Stables for a 40 minute ride, tucked up under blankets for a real Canadian Experience. Adults are $30 and kids aged 6-16 are $15. Children under the age of 6 are FREE.

World Snow Days at Marmot Basin

On the mountain on January 17th and 18th? Join us in celebrating World Snow Day by tagging us in your photos while visiting the mountain on World Snow Day or use #JnJ2021 on Instagram! Take a break and warm up with our hot chocolate and snowball donut special for $6.50 available at the lower mountain at Caribou Chalet cafeteria and at Paradise Chalet in Charlie's Bar at mid-mountain.

Scavenger Hunt Photo Challenge at Marmot Basin

Ski with Jasper the Bear

To celebrate this Jasper in January, Jasper the Bear will be sliding around the mountain on January 16, 2021 and 23 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. Be sure to give Jasper the Bear an air high five from at least two meters away. Get some photos too and share them with us on Instagram using #JnJ2021! We always like to see what our furry friend is up to.

Ice Climbing 101

Join the gang from Rockaboo Mountain Adventures and scale a frozen waterfall with 20% off during Jasper in January. The guides are top notch, super supportive and keep you safe while you head on up. This 6 hour day will give you a workout and test your nerve, but it’s very rewarding and heaps of fun.

Epic Edit Virtual Competition at Marmot Basin

Mountain-goers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate in our Epic Edit Competition. Use any natural or man-made features around Marmot Basin and gather video footage catching air, doing tricks or showing off your unique style for our judges. Enter our competition by January 31 and you can WIN EPIC SWAG, including a $100 voucher for our Outer Limits retail store for use this season! After Dark

Animals of the Night Hike

Join Joy and Sean on this family-friendly night hike up on Pyramid Bench. You will have the opportunity to learn all about nocturnal wildlife while you hike the scenic 5km loop. There will be great views of the Dark Sky Preserve from the trail as well as the town lit up at night. Expect an elevation gain of around 100m.

Festival of the Galaxies

On select dates this January, a local astronomy guide will spotlight some of the most amazing galaxies in the heavens as part of our Telescope and Planetarium COMBO full tour.

From the stunning spiral arms of the Whirlpool Galaxy to the massive core of the Andromeda Galaxy (home to 1 trillion suns), you’ll have the chance to see these ‘cities of stars’ at their best...all through the most powerful telescopes in the Rockies!

Join Warrior Women in the evening by the fire, make yourself comfortable and be prepared to engage in conversation about Indigenous culture, with stories, drumming, and songs.
