Kaleigh Wallace | Snow Farmer | 1st year at Marmot Basin
How did you get into your role?
I have been in Jasper for a while now but have typically been away for winters, so I was ready to spend a whole winter season and knew Marmot Basin was where I wanted to work. I wanted to get into the safety operations side of things and knew Snow Farming was a good way to break into that.
"Snow Farmers do not grow snow!”

What does a typical day look like?
Throughout the day you could set up/take down snow farming fencing, work on the Tres Hombres exit trail, move equipment around the hill - the list goes on!
“I like the variety of projects we get to participate in, and I love skiing every day as part of my job.”

If you could tell people one thing about your job, what would it be?
The name “Snow Farmer” confuses a lot of people. Basically we try to catch windblown snow with fences so that it can be distributed on the slope rather than get blown away. The fences are quite effective.
