Here's what to expect for the 2021/2022 winter season

Here's what to expect for the 2021/2022 winter season

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the slopes of Marmot Basin this season. As always, the health and safety of our guests, employees and community remains our highest priority and is always at the forefront of our decision-making process. We continue to follow provincial and federal recommendations for our 2021-2022 season. We may adjust our protocols as the season progresses to align with evolving government health regulations and to provide you with the best experience to enjoy our wide-open spaces. It is with that in mind that we’ve opted to implement the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP).

As a response to the COVID-19 public health emergency declared on September 15, 2021 in Alberta, the Government of Alberta introduced new provincial guidelines on September 20, 2021, containing requirements for the Restrictions Exemption Program that allow eligible businesses to operate.

The REP determines which services and locations will be accessible to all guests aged under 12 and 12 years of age and over who provide an approved proof of vaccination; or proof of a negative result of a privately-paid Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of your visit; or a valid medical exception letter.

You are an eligible participant in the REP if you provide personal identification (18 years or older) and one of the following:

  • proof of vaccination; or
  • a privately-paid negative Covid-19 rapid test taken within 72 hours of your visit; or
  • an original vaccine medical exception letter.

Those aged under 12 are exempt under REP.

This eligibility grants you access to all areas at Marmot Basin.

Those who are not participating in the REP will still be allowed to ski and snowboard at Marmot Basin, however you will be limited to outdoor spaces only including ski lifts, ticket sales windows, parking lots and washroom facilities located in parking lots 1 and 4. Our ski-in ski-out parking lots are easily accessible throughout the day making your vehicle the ideal location for having your picnic lunch.

Face masks will be required in all indoor spaces, except when consuming food and beverages. Face masks are also required in lines for ski lifts, rental equipment, ticket sales, and while riding lifts with any individual(s) other than those within your cohort, as well as in all other outdoor areas where physical distancing of 2 metres cannot be maintained.

Ski masks that have holes or vents in them are not considered acceptable face coverings. Medical mask exemptions are not recognized at Marmot Basin.

Please continue to physically distance from others and maintain a minimum 2 metre distance from other guests as well as staff whenever possible. This includes in lift lines as well as in ticket, rental and retail lines.

Please do not visit the mountain if you are feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 (including fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat or runny nose). For more information on symptoms, and whether you should visit Marmot Basin, please visit the Government of Alberta's website

Marmot Basin does not require that lift tickets be reserved or purchased ahead of time. There is no limit for the amount of skiers/snowboarders on the mountain at one time, however, we do have a fixed number of parking spaces available on a first come first served basis. While you may purchase your ticket in advance online, this does not guarantee you a parking spot should our parking lots reach full capacity.

Plexiglass barriers and hand sanitization stations have been installed where appropriate and frequent surface sanitation continues to occur.

These policies and procedures are subject to evolve and change at any time. Please continue to check our website for updates. Marmot Basin reserves the right to limit capacity and these limits may change.
